Systematic Theology and Philosophical Theology
It seems today that there are people in theological schools all over the country, who have this agenda to separate Philosophy from theology. I believe that in order to do theology in a proper way philosophy has to be involved. To make this point clear I want to show three ways that Philosophy plays in the doing of Theology. First, it supplies the content for theology, second, Philosophy is used to defend or establish theology's truth. Finally Philosophy scrutinizes it arguments and concepts. In other words, if you have a dad Philosophical understanding of things, then it is safe to say that your theology will also be bad. Later in our discussion we will look at some of the major Philosophical preconditions that have to be in place for any theological discussion can take place. This discussion will be expounded on when when we talk about the philosophical precondition to theology.
